After 39 years of teaching, I stepped down as the headmaster and came to politics. If I truly become the full minister, then it will be the greatest gift I have ever received in my political career. Narayan Chandra Chanda was born on 12 March 1945. He is the son of Kalipad Chanda of village Ula in Dumuria upazila of Khulna district. His mother's name is Renuka Bala Chanda. Narayan Chandra Chand passed matriculation examination from Dumuria Secondary School in 1961. HSC from Doulatpur BL College in 1963, Honors in Political Science from Rajshahi University in 1966 and Masters in 1967. Soon after that, he started his career as head teacher of Dumuria Sahas Noakati Secondary School.
On 7th May, 1973, Narayan Chandra Chand took charge as headmaster of Dumuria Secondary School in Khulna. He passed the matriculation examination from this school. In his efforts, the SSC examination center was opened in Dumuria School in 1974. Earlier, the examinees of this area had to go to Khulna town and test them. Immediately after joining as a teacher, he established there the Thana Secondary Teachers Association. He is the founder general secretary of the organization. In 1987, Chand took over as the Chairman of the District Secondary Teachers Association. He retired from teaching career on 11 March 2005.
In 1967, he joined the Awami League politics after completing his student life. In 1968, Narayan Chandra Chanda was made the organizing secretary of Awami League thana committee. In 1984, he became the general secretary of the thana Awami League. In 1995, Thana was elected the Awami League President. Lastly, he was elected president of the upazila committee formed in 2003. Narayana Chandra Chanda has been serving as the leader of the Awami League since then.
In the first elections held in Bangladesh, he was elected chairman of Bhandopara Union Parishad of Dumuria upazila. In this post he was elected six times. After the death of government minister Salahuddin Yusuf of that period, Narayan Chandra Chand was elected a member of parliament for the first time from Dumuria-Phultala seat in the by-election on December 20, 2000. In the 2001 election, he was defeated by the candidates of the four-party alliance. In 2008, he was again elected to the Parliament from the same seat in the ninth parliamentary election. Narayan Chandra Chanda, popularly known as the people of the area, was elected MP from the same seat in the January 5, 2014 elections uncontested.
Narayan Chandra Chanda, an organizer dedicated to working in the constituency of his constituency, is a dedicated and hardworking organization.
